Jeffrey D. Claflin

Jeffrey D. Claflin is an Indiana attorney with decades of experience handling complex insurance coverage and environmental matters. He represents policyholders in high-stakes disputes involving multiple insurers and cleanup sites. Over his career, he has helped clients recover hundreds of millions of dollars through published decisions and negotiated settlements.

Jeff began his academic path by earning a B.A. in 1981 in Business Administration & American History from Anderson University. He later completed three years of graduate study in the Anderson University School of Theology. In 1990, he received his J.D., 1990, Indiana University Indianapolis – Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

Jeff initially focused on environmental law after working with the Office of Policy and Regulatory Analysis at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Since the early 1990s, his work has centered on insurance coverage litigation. He has guided policyholders through complex disputes tied to environmental claims and other commercial coverage issues.

Jeff has represented a wide range of clients, including Eli Lilly & Company, Vectren, Raybestos, the City of Angola, Guidant Corp., PSI Energy, the City of Warsaw, Standard Fusee Corporation, CenterPoint Energy, and Hoosier Energy. His experience spans trial courts and appellate courts, where he has contributed to significant published decisions in Indiana.

Jeff has earned recognition as an Eisenhower Scholar and was selected as a Fellow of the Indianapolis Bar Association Foundation in 2009. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America® from 2012-2026 and was selected for inclusion in Indiana Super Lawyers – Insurance Coverage from 2015-2021, reflecting his respected standing in the legal community.
