About
Jeffery T. Van Fleet is a Partner at Brown & Hiser LLC in Laramie, Wyoming. His practice includes family law, criminal defense, real estate, business representation, estate planning, civil litigation, court-appointed matters, mediation, and negotiation. In family cases, he handles divorce, child custody and modification, child support, high-asset matters, guardian ad litem work, and prenuptial agreements. His broad practice supports clients facing personal, property, business, and courtroom disputes.
Jeff earned his J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law. Before entering law, he spent nearly eighteen years as a law enforcement officer in Colorado and served four years in the United States Marine Corps. That background provides firsthand experience with investigations, public safety, government process, and high-pressure decision making. His legal education added the civil, family, criminal, and property-law framework needed for his current litigation and counseling practice.
Jeff’s work includes family disputes, criminal defense, estate planning, business formation and contract matters, real estate agreements and development issues, and civil litigation. He handles matters involving governmental claims, property contracts, landlord or management concerns, and court-appointed cases involving juveniles, neglect, and guardianship. He is experienced in mediation and negotiation, giving clients options for resolving disputes through agreement when courtroom litigation is not the best path.
Jeffery T. Van Fleet is admitted in Wyoming and Colorado and before the US District Courts for Wyoming and Colorado. His community and professional service includes work with Equal Justice Wyoming, the Wyoming Family Law Section, and the ABA Military Pro Bono Project. His law enforcement, military, teaching, and legal background supports direct client counseling and courtroom advocacy across family, criminal, property, business, and civil disputes.
