Jazmin E. Newton

Jazmin E. Newton-Butt is an attorney licensed in Illinois and Iowa who handles a wide range of legal matters. Jazmin earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Iowa in 2010. She later earned her Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University in 2013. During law school, she graduated Cum Laude and built a strong foundation for her legal career.

Jazmin gained practical experience during law school while interning at the Rock Island County State’s Attorney’s Office. There, she assisted prosecutors with legal research, drafting motions, and preparing memorandums for court. She also participated in bench and jury trials, gaining early exposure to courtroom procedures.

Jazmin was actively involved in several student organizations while studying law. She participated in the Women’s Law Caucus, the Latina/o Law Student Association, where she served as Vice President, the Black Law Student Association, the Public Interest Law Society, and the Student Bar Association.

Jazmin also held a national leadership role as Attorney General for the National Latina/o Law Student Association from 2012 to 2013. She competed in several moot court competitions, and her team advanced to the quarterfinals and earned Best Respondent’s Brief at a national moot court competition in 2012.

Jazmin contributes to community service and civic organizations throughout the Quad Cities area. She serves as Commissioner for the City of Davenport and the Bi-State Regional Commission, and participates with the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, League of Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council #10, and the American Association of University Women.

Jazmin E. Newton-Butt continues to assist individuals and families with legal matters while remaining active in professional and community organizations, including the Illinois State Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, the Scott County Bar Association, and the Rock Island County Bar Association.
