Jay Aldis is a partner at Gray Reed with more than 30 years of experience representing employers in complex workplace disputes. He prepares every case as if trial is inevitable and has tried dozens of cases to a verdict. He handles discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, and whistleblower claims.

Jay earned his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law in 1992. He received his B.J., with high honors, from The University of Texas at Austin in 1989. His education supports a career focused on employment law, civil rights defense, and high-stakes litigation.

Jay represents clients in court, arbitration, and before agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Texas Workforce Commission. He also handles non-compete, non-solicitation, and confidentiality disputes seeking injunctive relief and damages.

Jay is Board Certified in Labor & Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He was recognized as the “Lawyer of the Year” in Houston for Labor & Employment Litigation by The Best Lawyers in America. He is also recognized by Chambers & Partners USA and Texas Super Lawyers.

Jay previously served as a Deputy Division Chief in the Harris County Attorney’s Office, where he tried numerous civil rights and employment cases. He has argued before the Texas Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
