Jason W. Bank is a member of Kerr, Russell and Weber, PLC in Detroit and chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring Practice Group. With more than 25 years of experience, he focuses on commercial bankruptcy, out-of-court workouts, restructurings, receiverships, liquidations, dissolutions, and creditors’ rights. He serves as trusted counsel to small- and middle-market businesses and their owners, helping them navigate challenging financial situations and protect their operations and assets when it matters most. Jason also acts as the firm’s General Counsel, adding to his broad perspective on business and legal issues.

Jason holds a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan.

Throughout his career, Jason W. Bank has helped businesses in diverse industries, such as automotive, retail, construction, education, real estate, health care, sports, and entertainment, manage financial distress and find paths to recovery. He has negotiated complex loan workouts, achieved consensual restructurings that avoid litigation, and guided businesses through Chapter 11 reorganizations when needed.

Jason has significant experience representing creditors in distressed situations, including Tier One auto suppliers, and has prosecuted and defended numerous preferential transfer and fraudulent conveyance actions. He also assists with buying and selling assets out of bankruptcy and represents receivers and liquidating trustees in federal and state courts.

Jason W. Bank’s commitment to helping people extends beyond his legal practice. He is a certified mediator and co-chairs the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan’s Facilitative Mediation Panel. He also serves on multiple professional committees and was an adjunct law professor for a decade.

Recognized as a Michigan Super Lawyer and named among Michigan’s Top 100 Attorneys, Jason continues to share his insights through lectures and publications. In his community, he serves on the board of Saint Christine’s Christian Services and supports youth sports, Scouting, and local charitable causes, helping others both in and out of the courtroom.
