Jason M. Burnette

Jason M. Burnette is Vice President and a Member of German Burnette & Associates, where he has actively litigated cases in New Mexico state and federal courts since 2004. His experience includes jury trials, district court matters, civil cases in Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court, administrative proceedings, and appellate work. Jason has represented clients before the New Mexico Court of Appeals and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals while handling employment, civil rights, negligence, employment law, and related complex litigation matters statewide today.

Jason earned his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2004 and his B.S. in Political Science from Appalachian State University in 2000. His legal education prepared him for a litigation-focused career involving public entities, employment disputes, civil rights claims, negligence cases, and appellate advocacy. Since entering practice, he has built experience across trial and appellate courts while representing clients in matters requiring careful legal analysis, thorough preparation, and strong courtroom advocacy throughout New Mexico today.

Jason has successfully defended state agencies and officials, along with multiple public school districts, in employment, civil rights, and negligence claims. His work extends beyond trial courts to administrative agencies and appellate proceedings, giving him broad experience across several levels of the legal system. His practice requires evaluating complex factual records, developing litigation strategies, preparing cases for trial, and defending clients through motions, hearings, appeals, and other contested proceedings in both state and federal forums across New Mexico today.

Jason M. Burnette is a member of the Council of School Attorneys and has served on the boards of NM Equal Access to Justice and the NM Innocence and Justice Project.
