About
Jason J. Mendro is a litigation partner in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP’s Washington, D.C. office and Co-Chair of the firm’s national Securities Litigation Practice Group. He represents companies, directors, and officers in securities class actions, derivative lawsuits, merger challenges, and other shareholder lawsuits and disputes. His broader commercial litigation work includes cryptocurrency, investment products, data breaches, RICO, False Claims Act, and ERISA matters, as well as government investigations and regulatory disputes involving major federal and state authorities.
Mendro earned his J.D. from Harvard University in 2002, graduating cum laude, and received his B.A. from the University of Florida in 1998, where he graduated first in his class. He later clerked for Judge Gerald B. Tjoflat of the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. His academic and appellate background supports a practice centered on complex briefing, strategic motion practice, high-stakes litigation, and issues that often move between trial and appellate courts.
Mendro has defended securities and derivative claims involving financial services, hospitality, biotechnology, retail, technology, government contracting, and other industries. He also represents companies in investigations and litigation brought by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Securities and Exchange Commission, and coalitions of state attorneys general. Representative matters include dismissals of shareholder actions, appellate victories under the False Claims Act, cryptocurrency litigation, administrative-law challenges, and disputes arising from major data breaches and investment products.
Jason J. Mendro has received recognition from Chambers USA, Legal 500, Lawdragon, The American Lawyer, Law360, Super Lawyers, and BTI Consulting for securities litigation and client service. He is admitted in Washington, D.C., New York, California, and numerous federal courts, including the US Supreme Court. His practice combines courtroom experience, appellate strategy, and regulatory defense to help businesses manage complex shareholder, enforcement, and commercial litigation risks.
