Jason Burnett

Jason Burnett is an AV Preeminent® rated attorney with a distinguished legal career focused on commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and creditors’ rights. Based in Florida, Jason brings his clients over three decades of experience, offering deep knowledge in complex financial disputes, debt restructuring, and alternative dispute resolution. His work spans both federal and state courts, and he frequently serves as a lecturer on bankruptcy law topics.

Jason earned his B.S. from the University of North Florida in 1985, where he served as President of the Student Government Association. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law in 1988. During law school, he was a member of the Moot Court Team and studied law in Exeter, England, as a Rotary International Foundation Scholar.

Jason’s bankruptcy practice is extensive. He has represented debtors in Chapter 11 cases from the initial filing stage through confirmation and post-confirmation matters. He has also served creditors, trustees, and committees in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases. Additionally, Jason has significant experience in state court assignments for the benefit of creditors and handling complex debt workouts and contract and construction disputes.

Early in his career, Jason clerked for the Honorable George L. Proctor, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Middle District of Florida. He is admitted to practice in Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.

Jason Burnett is a Certified Circuit Mediator by the Florida Supreme Court and has held leadership roles in several professional organizations, including the Florida Bar’s Business Law Section and the Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association.

Jason has earned numerous accolades, including recognition in Chambers USA (2016–2024), Best Lawyers in America (2018–2025), and Florida Super Lawyers (multiple years). He was named Lawyer of the Year in 2022 for his bankruptcy and creditor rights work and was honored as the 2009 Alumni of the Year by the University of North Florida.
