About
Jared Ausserer is a Washington criminal defense lawyer and partner at Puget Law Group. He brings nearly three decades of trial experience to complex criminal matters. His work is shaped by strategic insight, courtroom skill, and a background as a former prosecutor handling serious cases.
Jared attended Seattle University School of Law. While in law school, he interned at the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office. After graduation, he accepted a position as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, where he began building the trial experience that later shaped his criminal defense practice.
Jared spent nearly 20 years at the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office. He served under three elected Prosecutors and rose quickly through the ranks. His work earned him the highest attorney classification in an office of more than 100 attorneys, demonstrating his strong trial ability.
Jared later became Team Chief of the Special Assault Unit. In that role, he worked with law enforcement agencies and helped develop county-wide protocols for sex offense and serious assault cases. He also helped train nurses, caseworkers, and police on sensitive criminal law matters.
Jared also served as Homicide Division Chief for four years. He oversaw homicide and death investigations brought to the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office. He worked with state and federal law enforcement on investigative strategy, gaining experience in complex murder and death penalty matters.
Jared Ausserer now uses his prosecution background to defend clients facing felony and misdemeanor charges. His case experience includes aggravated murder, child sexual assault, rape, domestic violence, burglary, theft, and DUI. He focuses on identifying weaknesses in the prosecution’s strategy and protecting his client’s rights.
