Janine M. Yim

Janine M. Yim is an associate at Cades Schutte LLP, practicing in both the Trusts & Estates and Litigation departments. She counsels clients on estate planning and administration while also representing individuals and businesses in disputes. Her practice strikes a balance between strategic advocacy and thoughtful planning, tailored to meet each client’s needs.

Janine received her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law in 2020, where she served as senior articles editor for the Asian American Law Journal and participated in the Health and Welfare Clinic. She previously earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Legal Studies, summa cum laude, from Scripps College. A graduate of ‘Iolani School, she also gained practical experience as a summer associate at Cades Schutte, solidifying her interest in trusts, estates, and litigation.

Before beginning her career with the firm, Janine clerked for the Honorable Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald of the Hawai‘i Supreme Court. This prestigious role gave her valuable insight into appellate decision-making and strengthened her ability to analyze complex legal issues with precision. Her time at the court continues to inform her practice and enhance her advocacy.

During her legal training, Janine further developed her skills through internships with the Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund and Outten & Golden LLP. These opportunities allowed her to work on matters involving individual rights and workplace issues, broadening her perspective and approach to client service.
