Jana L. Kenney

Jana L. Kenney is an associate at Bergen Parkinson and a member of the firm’s litigation group. Her practice includes complex commercial litigation, insurance defense, estate and probate disputes, property law matters, and general litigation. She represents a variety of clients and takes a pragmatic, client-centered approach to resolving disputes. Her work focuses on understanding the legal and practical issues in each matter and developing a path toward an effective resolution.

Jana earned a J.D. cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law and a B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Maine. In law school, she served as a legal writing teaching assistant and participated on the moot court team. Her education strengthened her research, writing, and advocacy skills, which support her litigation practice and her ability to analyze contested legal issues involving businesses, property, estates, and other civil disputes.

Jana returned to Bergen Parkinson in 2023 after practicing in Portland, Maine, where she focused on complex commercial litigation and insurance defense. After law school, she clerked for the Maine Superior Court in Penobscot County before beginning practice in southern Maine. Her experience now includes disputes involving estate and probate issues, property law, and general litigation, giving her a broad foundation for evaluating claims, defenses, procedural choices, and settlement options.

Jana L. Kenney has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in Alternative Dispute Resolution for 2022. She is a member of the Maine State Bar Association and has served on the board of Friends of the Allagash.
