Jan Alan Lewis

Jan Alan Lewis is a Member of the Real Estate Department at Cole Schotz, concentrating on commercial office and industrial leasing. He represents landlords and tenants on local, regional, and national matters and handles complex real estate transactions for owners, developers, and companies throughout the US. His work includes preparing, reviewing, and negotiating leases, brokerage agreements, and contracts for the purchase and sale of commercial and residential property.

Lewis earned a J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law and a B.A. from Lehigh University. His legal education supports a practice focused on the detailed contract, property, and business issues that arise in commercial leasing. He is admitted in New Jersey and New York and before federal courts in New Jersey and New York, giving him a broad professional foundation for transactional real estate work across the region.

Lewis has negotiated major office, warehouse, industrial, retail, and headquarters leases for landlords and tenants. His representative work includes large lease extensions, expansions, relocations, and new leases involving government agencies, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, automobile manufacturers, retailers, media businesses, and other commercial users. He has also served as local counsel for tenants entering Tri-State Area leases and handles related documentation throughout the leasing process.

Jan Alan Lewis joined Cole Schotz in 1994 and has been a Member since 1998. He belongs to real estate and bar organizations, lectures on commercial leasing, and has authored articles on the subject. He has received an AV rating, past recognition from New Jersey Super Lawyers, and inclusion in multiple editions of Best Lawyers. His practice remains centered on practical lease negotiation and transaction documentation for owners, developers, companies, landlords, and tenants.
