About

Jamil N. Alibhai is a Shareholder in the Dallas office of Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, P.C. He focuses on complex commercial litigation, intellectual property disputes, insolvency litigation, noncompetition and trade secret litigation, and appellate matters. He leads the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group.

Jamil earned his J.D. from Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law, and was a member of the Order of the Barristers. He received two B.A. degrees from New York University in Economics and Political Science. He is admitted in Texas and multiple federal courts.

Jamil represents clients across energy, financial services, health care, real estate, and technology and telecommunications industries. Over more than 25 years, he has served as lead trial counsel in high-stakes matters in state and federal courts throughout the country, handling complex and challenging disputes.

Jamil served as lead counsel for Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. in disputes following Winter Storm Uri. One matter was the largest bankruptcy trial in the country in 2022, which resulted in a recovery of over $1.9 B. He also secured an appellate victory in the Fifth Circuit.

In 2015, Jamil was honored as one of the National Law Journal’s Winning Litigators for a patent-infringement and trade-secret case that resulted in an $ 88MM verdict. He is recognized by Chambers USA, Lawdragon 500 Leading Litigators in America, IAM Patent 1000, and Texas Super Lawyers.

Jamil N. Alibhai’s additional honors include Martindale-Hubbell® AV Preeminent® and listings in Best Lawyers in America for Litigation – Intellectual Property and Litigation – Labor & Employment. He is also a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and Texas Bar Foundation.
