Jami J. Bishop

Jami J. Bishop is the managing partner of Johnson, Janklow & Abdallah, LLP in Sioux Falls and focuses solely on civil litigation. Her practice includes motor vehicle collisions, workers’ compensation litigation, bad faith, personal injury, railroad litigation, premises liability, business litigation, estate contests, trust litigation, contracts, and other commercial disputes. She represents clients through trial, mediation, briefing, and appellate advocacy in South Dakota state and federal courts.

Jami graduated with distinction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before attending the University of South Dakota School of Law. She received her law degree with high honors in 2010. Her academic record and legal training support a litigation practice that depends on detailed factual development, persuasive writing, strategic case analysis, and courtroom presentation. She is admitted in South Dakota, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota, and the Eighth Circuit.

Jami has extensive litigation experience that includes jury trials, court trials, mediations, legal briefing, and oral arguments before the South Dakota Supreme Court. Her representative work includes obtaining a $1 million federal jury verdict in a South Dakota medical malpractice case. She also handles workers’ compensation claims, personal injury cases, bad faith disputes, commercial litigation, and trust-related matters, allowing her to address a wide range of contested civil issues.

Jami J. Bishop has served as President of the Second Circuit Women in Law and as Chair of the Worker’s Compensation Committee, and she is a member of the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association.
