James Schwartz

James Schwartz serves as Of Counsel with the Law Offices of Stephen M. Fuerch in Pleasanton, California. His work includes business law, commercial litigation, contract disputes, and estate planning. He has represented companies ranging from sole proprietorships to larger and multinational businesses. His practice also addresses real estate disagreements and probate litigation. He assists clients with documents and disputes affecting business operations, ownership relationships, commercial obligations, and personal estate arrangements.

Schwartz earned his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific in 1975. He previously received a B.S. in Business Administration from San Jose State University in 1971. He became licensed to practice in California in 1976. His business education and legal training support work with business entities, commercial agreements, and disputes that require attention to corporate structures and contractual rights.

Schwartz founded the Law Offices of James G. Schwartz PC and practiced there for thirty-three years before joining Stephen M. Fuerch’s firm as Of Counsel in 2020. His work includes company formation, shareholder and partnership disputes, breach of contract claims, fraud litigation, debt collection, and construction disputes. He has drafted business purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, employment contracts, nondisclosure agreements, and other commercial documents. He also works with clients on wills and trusts.

James Schwartz has represented clients from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, elsewhere in California, and other states with California legal matters. He has experience advising both plaintiffs and defendants in business disputes, giving him a practical view of commercial litigation. His combined transactional and dispute-resolution background helps clients consider contractual obligations, business relationships, and estate planning questions while addressing the legal consequences of important decisions.
