James P. Devine

James P. Devine is a partner at WilliamsMcCarthy LLP and a seasoned trial attorney with decades of experience in personal injury and insurance defense litigation. Licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin, he has built a distinguished career representing insurance companies, self-insured entities, and individuals in complex civil cases across state and federal courts. His practice encompasses personal injury, product liability, wrongful death, automobile accidents, and premises liability.

James earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law and his B.A. from Eastern Illinois University. Before joining WilliamsMcCarthy LLP in 1983, he served as an assistant state’s attorney in Illinois, where he gained valuable courtroom and prosecutorial experience. His early exposure to criminal and civil litigation helped develop his strong trial advocacy and analytical skills, which continue to define his practice today.

Throughout his 30-year career, James has tried more than 90 jury trials to verdict and handled hundreds of bench trials and arbitration cases.
