James Otto Heiting

James Otto Heiting, managing partner of Heiting & Irwin, is one of California’s most accomplished trial attorneys, focusing on catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, transportation accidents, and civil litigation. He has recovered more than $500 million for clients across the state. Known for his tenacity and skill, Mr. Heiting has successfully represented individuals in high-stakes cases for nearly five decades.

James earned both his undergraduate and Juris Doctor degrees at Western State University, completing his legal studies in 1976. Since then, he has been admitted to practice before all California state and federal courts, the United States Court of Federal Claims, the California Supreme Court, and the U.S. Supreme Court. His broad admissions reflect his ability to handle complex cases at every judicial level.

Throughout his distinguished career, James has held leadership positions in several respected organizations. He is the only attorney from the Inland Empire elected as President of the State Bar of California and has also served as President of the Riverside County Bar Association. In addition, he co-founded the Leo A. Deegan Inn of Court and is a charter member of the Inland Empire Federal Bar Association.
