James L. Miller

James L. Miller is a founding partner of Miller & Miller Law in Milwaukee. He has spent more than three decades guiding clients through financial hardship, foreclosure concerns, and complex legal matters. His leadership has helped grow the firm into a trusted name across Wisconsin and surrounding communities.

After earning his B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, James later received his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law. These degrees shaped his commitment to helping people facing serious financial challenges with skill, integrity, and practical insight for clients.

Early in his career, James co-founded Miller & Son’s with his father in Canton, Ohio. After facing business bankruptcy and personal hardship within his family, he chose to focus his legal practice on bankruptcy, consumer law, immigration law, and personal injury matters for individuals across Wisconsin today.

James is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and before the U.S. District Court for the E.D. and W.D. of Wisconsin. He was honored as a Wisconsin Super Lawyers Honoree, 2025, reflecting his dedication, skill, and consistent results for clients statewide. He is an active member of leading national legal associations.

Beyond his law practice, James founded Senior Helpers – Milwaukee in 2007, expanding his service into the healthcare sector. In 2021, Senior Helpers was purchased by Advocate/Aurora. He also hosts The Miller Law Chronicles and has appeared on local television programs, sharing clear guidance on bankruptcy topics statewide.

James is the author of several books on bankruptcy, including Back on Track: How Bankruptcy Can Reverse the Financial Impact of Covid-19 and The Truth About Bankruptcy in Wisconsin: Your Pathway to a Brighter Future. He writes to educate families about their options with clarity and practical advice.

James L. Miller remains deeply involved in community service, including leadership roles with the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center and the Milwaukee Jewish Free Loan Association. He values family life with his wife, Felicia, their daughters, and growing family in Milwaukee while serving clients statewide.
