James earned a Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University in 2010. He continued his legal education at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he received his Juris Doctor in 2013. After graduating, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Calcasieu Parish and was promoted to Misdemeanor Section Chief before choosing a path of broader public legal service.

James has built a standout legal career by leading high-impact litigation in cases such as Poe v. United Ass’n, Gosby v. Apache Industrial Services, and Williams v. McDermott International Inc. Known for his strategic advocacy in complex disputes, he has earned repeated recognition, including multiple “Top 10 Under 40” honors and selection to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.

James holds Bar admissions in Louisiana and Texas, as well as multiple U.S. District Courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
