James E. Hockenberry

James E. Hockenberry, Esquire, is a skilled attorney and Partner at the Law Office of Leon Aussprung, MD, LLC. With extensive experience in personal injury, medical malpractice, and civil rights litigation, he has built a reputation for his commitment to justice. Mr. Hockenberry earned his B.A. in Economics from Penn State University (University Park) in 1998 before obtaining his J.D. from Temple University Law School in 2003. During his time at Temple, he authored a research paper on predatory lending, critically analyzing the inadequacy of federal and state mortgage lending regulations and proposing reforms to better protect consumers.

After graduating from law school, attorney James E. Hockenberry began his legal career with a legal aid organization in Central Pennsylvania, where he represented clients who could not afford a lawyer. There, he gained significant experience in consumer law, bankruptcy litigation, and adversary proceedings in bankruptcy court. In 2005, he joined a mid-sized Bucks County law firm and focused his practice on personal injury litigation. Since 2013, James has been a key member of the Law Office of Leon Aussprung, MD, LLC, concentrating on complex medical malpractice and personal injury claims for seriously injured clients.

Beyond personal injury litigation, Mr. Hockenberry has significant experience handling civil rights cases under 42 U.S.C. §1983. As a member of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s Prisoner Civil Rights Panel, he was appointed to represent plaintiffs in civil rights claims. His legal acumen has led him to argue cases before the Pennsylvania Superior Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and multiple district and bankruptcy courts, he continues to advocate for individuals seeking justice.
