About
James A. Heuer, Jr. is a Minneapolis personal injury Attorney with more than 40 years of experience representing injured people and families across Minnesota. His practice focuses on plaintiff personal injury, automobile and motorcycle accidents, wrongful death, bicycle injuries, dog bites, civil litigation, nursing home abuse, and workers’ compensation claims.
James earned his B.S. from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 1975 after studying sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice, then received his J.D. from Hamline University School of Law in 1977. He was admitted to practice in Minnesota in 1977 and in the U.S. Federal District Court for the District of Minnesota in 1979. Early in his legal path, he worked as an insurance adjuster during law school and saw how injury disputes affected people seeking fair recovery. That experience helped shape his commitment to representing plaintiffs, advocating for individuals rather than insurers, and pursuing outcomes that support medical, financial, and personal recovery after serious harm.
Over the course of James career, he has represented clients facing life-changing accidents, unsafe products, severe injuries, and wrongful death claims. His work includes helping people injured in motor vehicle crashes, workplace incidents, premises liability matters, animal bites, brain injuries, construction accidents, and hospital or nursing home abuse cases. He has also earned recognition for trial advocacy, including selection to the National Trial Lawyers Civil Plaintiff Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Minnesota. His affiliations reflect a strong commitment to plaintiff advocacy and trial practice.
Beyond direct representation, James A. Heuer, Jr. has contributed to the legal profession by teaching continuing legal education at Hamline Law School. His background in civil litigation and injury law allows him to guide clients through negotiations, claims evaluation, courtroom preparation, and the practical decisions that often follow an accident or loss. His legal career has centered on helping people move forward after difficult events. Through experienced, client-focused advocacy, he helps injured clients and families pursue accountability, compensation, and stability after serious harm.
