About

Jacob Blizzard is a partner at Blizzard & Zimmerman Attorneys in Abilene, Texas, and one of the most highly credentialed criminal defense attorneys in the state. He is dual board-certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Criminal Law and Criminal Appellate Law—an achievement held by fewer than one percent of Texas lawyers.

Nationally, Jacob is board-certified in Criminal Trial Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, a distinction that reflects his extensive courtroom experience and commitment to professional excellence. He represents clients across Texas in criminal defense, appellate, and post-conviction matters, including writs of habeas corpus, direct appeals, and federal criminal cases.

Jacob earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2010, where he received multiple American Jurisprudence Awards for excellence in Civil Rights, Business Entities, and Supreme Court Seminar. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from the University of Houston. Licensed since 2010, he is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Throughout his career, Jacob has been recognized for his outstanding advocacy and leadership. He has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2020 through 2024 and included in The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and Top 40 Under 40. In addition to his legal work, he serves as an adjunct professor at Trinity Law School and actively contributes to continuing legal education programs.

Known for his meticulous preparation, client-centered approach, and unshakable integrity, Jacob Blizzard remains a trusted advocate for those facing the most serious criminal challenges.
