J. Zaw Win

J. Zaw Win is a Director in the Business Law and Captive Insurance groups at Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC in Burlington, Vermont. Zaw advises captive insurance companies and risk retention groups on organization, licensing, governance, and operations. He also handles general corporate and commercial matters, including transactions and restructurings. His clients range from Fortune 500 companies to nonprofits and small, family-run businesses.

Zaw earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Vermont Law School, where he served as Articles Editor of the Vermont Law Review. He holds a MAT from Johns Hopkins University and a BA in Biology from Lewis and Clark College. His academic and editorial background supports careful legal analysis, while his professional training helps him explain corporate and regulatory issues to clients.

Zaw regularly advises insurers on loss portfolio transfers involving multiple jurisdictions, redomestications, and disputed withdrawals.
