J. Scot Wickhem is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience in intellectual property law and innovation strategy. Scot earned his B.S. in Chemistry with a Business Emphasis from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, providing a strong technical foundation for his legal career. He went on to earn his J.D., magna cum laude, from Marquette University Law School. This blend of scientific knowledge and academic excellence enables him to evaluate intellectual property challenges with precision, while also providing business-focused solutions that support client goals.

Scot’s work spans U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, patentability searches, freedom-to-operate assessments, and validity and infringement evaluations. He has substantial experience in the chemical and mechanical arts and regularly advises on trade secrets, licensing, patent landscapes, and post-grant proceedings. Before beginning his legal career, Scot worked as an Inorganic Chemist for a major research company, gaining practical insights into complex technical issues. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, further developing discipline and problem-solving skills that continue to shape his practice.
