J. Kevin Collins

J. Kevin Collins is a co-founding partner of The Collins Law Firm, P.C. He helps clients with criminal law, traffic matters, DUI defense, family law, personal injury, divorce, custody, and visitation. He gives clear counsel, negotiates when needed, and represents clients in court with care, focus, and steady judgment.

Kevin earned his B.A. in 1986 from James Madison University, where he studied Business Administration and Marketing. After working in investments, money management, and personal finance, he attended the University of Richmond, School of Law. He earned his J.D. in 1992 and began building his litigation career.

Kevin served clients at the Portsmouth Public Defender’s Office from 1993 to 1995. He then worked as an associate with Stallings and Richardson from 1995 to 1998. In 1998, he became a partner at Collins and Plott, P.L.C., where he continued practicing until 2009.

Kevin formed The Collins Law Firm, P.C. in 2009 with his wife, Hollie Owen Collins, who is also an attorney and member of the Virginia State Bar. The firm works to counsel clients, protect their interests, and provide helpful legal support during stressful and important times in life.

Kevin is admitted to the Virginia State Bar and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He is licensed to practice in all State and Federal Courts in Virginia. He has also argued orally before the Supreme Court of Virginia during his legal career.

J. Kevin Collins brings years of courtroom experience, practical knowledge, and personal service to each case he handles. From his Portsmouth office, he serves clients across Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, Northampton County, Sussex County, Greensville County, and James City County.
