Cary earned his J.D. from Baylor University School of Law in 1983. He also earned a B.A. from Baylor University in 1979 and a B.Acc. from Baylor University in 1980. While in law school, he competed on Baylor Law School’s Regional Champion and National Quarterfinalist Mock Trial team.
Cary handles breach of contract, fraud, shareholder disputes, defamation, employment claims, and international litigation. He has led jury trials, arbitrations, and appeals in state and federal courts. His work includes major letter-of-credit disputes and cross-border matters in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Cary has received many honors for his work. He is AV Preeminent® rated and has been selected for The Best Lawyers in America for Commercial Litigation. He has also been named a Texas Super Lawyer and recognized as a Houstonia Magazine Top Lawyer in Houston.
Beyond client work, Cary served as managing partner of Gray Reed from 2006 through 2022. He also served on the Baylor University Board of Regents and now sits on the Baylor College of Medicine Board of Trustees.
