Irris Williams is an Assistant District Attorney with the Shelby County District Attorney’s General Office in Memphis, Tennessee. In this role, she represents the State of Tennessee in prosecuting a wide range of criminal cases, handling all stages of litigation from investigation and charging through trial. She is committed to upholding justice, protecting the community, and ensuring the fair application of the law.
Ms. Williams received her Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2020. During law school, she served on the Moot Court Board as Associate Justice of Mock Trial and was a member of the Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Team. She completed her undergraduate studies at Spelman College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2017, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Williams gained extensive legal experience as a law clerk at Rice, Amundsen & Caperton PLLC and McCullough Law, PLLC. She also worked as a document review specialist with MBO Partners and as an associate attorney with Becker Law Firm. These roles provided her with a strong foundation in legal research, client representation, and case management.
Irris Williams has been actively engaged in public service throughout her career. She has served as a board member of the Foster Care Review Board since 2018 and as a volunteer with the Youth Court for the Shelby County Juvenile Court since 2017. Her involvement in these organizations reflects her commitment to children, families, and the broader Memphis community.
Through her prosecutorial work and community service, Ms. Williams consistently demonstrates leadership, professionalism, and dedication to the pursuit of justice.
