Howard L. Williams is a partner at Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard, LLP with more than four decades of experience representing privately held companies and their shareholders. His practice covers tax planning and litigation, corporate and business law, employee benefits, executive compensation, and aviation matters. Williams earned his J.D., cum laude, from Wake Forest University School of Law, where he served on the Wake Forest Law Review. He later obtained an LL.M., with highest honors, from George Washington University, and a B.S., with high honors, from North Carolina State University. His advanced training in tax law and business matters laid the foundation for a distinguished career advising corporations and entrepreneurs throughout North Carolina.
Before joining Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard, LLP, Williams served in Washington, D.C., with the Office of Chief Counsel for the United States Treasury, where he gained extensive experience as a tax specialist and litigator. He has represented businesses in tax disputes before the U.S. Tax Court, federal district courts, and the Internal Revenue Service, and continues to advise clients on corporate tax planning and compliance strategies to achieve long-term growth.
