Howard Ellzey

Howard Ellzey is a partner at Ayo and Iken, representing clients in family law matters across Florida. His practice focuses on divorce, child custody, parenting plans, support, and related disputes that can affect a family’s long-term stability. Ellzey helps clients understand their options, prepare for important decisions, and pursue workable solutions through negotiation, mediation, or courtroom advocacy when litigation becomes necessary.

Ellzey earned his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law after attending the school’s part-time evening program while working full time. He received a B.S. in Business Organizational Management from Crichton College in Memphis. Before law school, he worked as a litigation consultant in the legal department of an investment banking firm and gained additional experience with law firms and corporate legal departments.

His legal experience includes practicing in counties throughout Florida and appearing before numerous judges in contested family law proceedings. He works to keep clients informed as documents are filed or received and explains strategies, costs, and available choices in plain language. Ellzey seeks favorable resolutions through negotiation and mediation while remaining prepared to present evidence and argument in court when an agreement is not possible.

Howard Ellzey brings military service, prior legal-industry experience, and practical judgment to his client relationships. He served in the US Army Reserves and later founded a St. Petersburg practice in 2008 before becoming a partner at Ayo and Iken. He has also volunteered with Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, Bahamas Methodist Habitat, and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium Dive Team. His approach emphasizes candor, professionalism, and informed decision-making.
