About
Hope Del Carlo is an Oregon consumer lawyer at Elemental Law, who represents people harmed by abusive financial institutions. Her practice focuses on mortgage lending disputes, foreclosure defense, servicing misconduct, credit reporting issues, and related consumer law claims. Over more than two decades, she has represented homeowners in litigation involving federal and Oregon consumer protection laws. Her cases have produced dozens of reported Oregon federal district court opinions addressing mortgage and consumer rights statutes.
Hope earned her B.A. from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She later received her J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School. Her legal education prepared her for a career centered on consumer protection, mortgage litigation, foreclosure defense, and advocacy for homeowners facing serious financial harm.
Hope coordinated a series of foreclosure defense projects beginning in 2012 for low- and moderate-income homeowners across Oregon. Those projects helped more than 2,000 homeowners. She previously worked with Oregon legal services organizations and has contributed to consumer law publications and continuing legal education programs. She completed the Gerry Spence Method residential trial program in 2023. Her public service includes legislative testimony supporting improvements to Oregon consumer protection laws.
Hope Del Carlo is admitted to practice in Oregon and before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She served as chair of the Oregon State Bar Consumer Law Section Executive Committee in 2006. She later became Oregon State Chair of the National Association of Consumer Advocates for 2025–2026. Her practice remains focused on representing consumers in disputes involving abusive mortgage lending, servicing practices, and other financial misconduct.
