Henry J. Tesar

Henry J. Tesar is a civil litigation attorney in Bozeman, Montana. He represents plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal court. His practice includes breach of contract claims, land use and access disputes, constitutional law matters, and class actions. Henry works on cases that require close attention to the facts, the law, and the practical effect a dispute has on those involved.

Henry earned a B.A. from Gettysburg College in 2014. He then received a J.D. with honors from Emory University School of Law in 2019. While at Emory, he served as Articles Editor of the Emory Law Journal, worked as a student attorney in the Turner Environmental Law Clinic, and assisted a professor of environmental law and climate change with research.

Henry began his legal career as a clerk for the Honorable Mary Jane Knisely in Montana’s 13th Judicial District. His litigation experience includes a class action brought by condominium owners at Big Sky Resort over a mandatory rental management program. The case involved breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims. The class secured certification, and the matter settled for $25 million plus agreed relief that ended rental management exclusivity.

Henry J. Tesar is licensed to practice in Montana and holds an inactive Colorado license. He is also admitted to the federal courts of Montana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2023, he brings experience in both individual disputes and complex class actions to his civil litigation practice.
