Harry A. Light serves as Of Counsel at Friday, Eldredge & Clark, LLP, where he focuses his practice on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, commercial litigation, and intellectual property matters. He represents creditors in protecting collateral, pursuing objections to discharge, and defending against adversary proceedings in bankruptcy court. His experience also includes representing banks, mortgage lenders, and federal agencies such as the FDIC and the Resolution Trust Corporation in complex litigation. In intellectual property, he assists clients with trademark and service mark registration and provides guidance on related legal issues.
Mr. Light earned his B.A., with honors, from the University of Florida in 1977 and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1982. Licensed in both Texas and Arkansas, he is admitted before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, the Northern District of Texas, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eighth Circuits. His education and extensive courtroom experience provide clients with strong advocacy in both state and federal matters.
Recognized for his skill and service, Mr. Light has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2010 and named “Lawyer of the Year” in multiple categories, including Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights and Litigation – Bankruptcy. He holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been honored with the Pro Bono Service Award by the Legal Services Corporation. His scholarship includes published work on the Arkansas Homestead Exemption under the revised Bankruptcy Code.
Beyond his legal practice, Harry A. Light has been deeply involved in civic and professional leadership. He served as Mayor of Cammack Village, Arkansas, from 1995 to 2014, and continues to hold leadership positions with organizations such as the Access to Justice Foundation and Central Arkansas Rescue Effort for Animals, Inc. With decades of legal and community service, he is a trusted advocate for clients and a respected leader in Arkansas’s legal community.
