Guy R. Cook

Guy R. Cook is an Iowa trial attorney at Grefe & Sidney, P.L.C., with more than 40 years of experience handling complex civil and criminal litigation. His practice includes appellate matters, business disputes, class actions, professional liability, trucking accidents, insurance coverage disputes, and white-collar criminal defense law. He has served as counsel in more than 1,000 litigated matters and has tried more than 200 jury trials. His courtroom work includes major business cases, serious injury claims, medical malpractice, securities fraud, and federal criminal matters.

Guy earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Iowa. He later received his J.D. from Drake University Law School. His legal education prepared him for a career centered on trial practice, complex litigation, and courtroom advocacy.

Guy began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for Justice J.L. Larson of the Iowa Supreme Court. He later served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa. His federal prosecution work covered embezzlement, bank robbery, tax fraud, obstruction, narcotics offenses, bank fraud, and kidnapping. He has since handled complex civil and criminal cases throughout Iowa. His experience includes wrongful death, products liability, healthcare disputes, semi-truck collisions, insurance fraud, false arrest, and breach of contract claims.

Guy R. Cook is double-board certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is a past president of the Iowa State Bar Association and the Polk County Bar Association. He has served on the Iowa State Judicial Nominating Commission and the Iowa Supreme Court Grievance Commission. His professional recognition includes membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates and fellowship in the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers.
