Gregory P. Cafouros is a partner at Kroger, Gardis & Regas, LLP in Indianapolis whose practice focuses on construction law, environmental law, business litigation, real estate, land use and zoning, and mediation. A practicing lawyer and registered civil engineer, he represents architects, engineers, contractors, owners, insurers, and public and private entities. Greg also leads the firm’s design and construction team and serves as General Counsel to the American Council of Engineering Companies of Indiana.
Greg earned his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis in 1978 and his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1972. He became a certified mediator in 1996 and is admitted to practice in Indiana and federal court. His combined legal and engineering background supports his work on construction defects, professional liability, contract disputes, environmental matters, and technical issues that require both legal analysis and practical understanding of project design and performance.
Greg’s construction practice includes design professional liability claims and defenses, construction contracts and negotiations, defect claims, risk management, contract analysis, and mechanics lien matters. His environmental work includes defending enforcement actions, prosecuting and defending toxic tort claims, assisting industries and municipalities with environmental permitting, and mediating environmental disputes. His representative experience also includes CERCLA and RCRA litigation, contaminated-site cleanup disputes, engineering negligence claims, and matters involving environmental liabilities connected to development and industrial properties.
Gregory P. Cafouros has been recognized by Best Lawyers from 2019 through 2026 and received the President’s Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies in 2008. He has also held a Fellowship for the Study of Law with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Beyond his legal practice, Greg has supported environmental and community organizations through service with the Indianapolis Parks Foundation and Eagle Creek Park Foundation.
