About
Greg Skordas is a lifelong Utah resident and seasoned attorney with over 38 years of legal experience. A Democratic candidate for Attorney General, he has built his career on defending constitutional rights, prosecuting serious crimes, and serving his community through advocacy and reform. His background includes leadership in criminal justice, legislative initiatives, and nonprofit work, reflecting his dedication to fairness, accountability, and public service.
Greg earned both his Engineering and Law degrees from the University of Utah before beginning his career at the Salt Lake Legal Defenders Association, where he represented indigent clients in criminal matters. He later served as First Assistant Salt Lake County Attorney, becoming Utah’s first gang prosecutor and head of the Special Victims Unit. His work helped shape legislation to protect victims and strengthen the prosecution of violent offenders.
In private practice, Greg co-founded a respected law firm and was instrumental in introducing the Drug Court concept to Utah in 1995, a program that has since transformed lives statewide. He and his wife later established “Friends of Drug Court,” a nonprofit supporting recovery programs. He has also represented more than 150 law enforcement officers in use-of-force cases and taught extensively at Utah’s police academy, building trust and accountability between law enforcement and communities.
Greg Skordas’s commitment extends beyond the courtroom. He has been recognized for his pro bono work, including eviction defense, disability applications, and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault. Named Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the Utah State Bar in 2017, he continues to champion access to justice. His campaign for Attorney General reflects his belief that Utah deserves independent leadership that defends the will of the people, protects public lands, and stands against political corruption.
