GianClaudio Finizio

GianClaudio Finizio is a director at Bayard, P.A. and head of the firm’s Insurance practice group. His Wilmington practice focuses on bankruptcy and insurance insolvency law, insurance law, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate and business matters. He advises insurance companies on regulatory compliance and changes in ownership or control and represents debtors, creditor and equity committees, financial institutions, and public and private businesses in bankruptcy and restructuring matters.

GianClaudio earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from Widener University Delaware Law School and a B.A. from the University of Delaware. Before practicing law, he worked as a business analyst in health, safety, and environmental functions for a manufacturing company. While in law school, he worked in the company’s law department on litigation and corporate governance matters. That business background complements his current insurance, corporate, regulatory, and insolvency practice.

GianClaudio handles insurance regulatory matters involving compliance, ownership changes, and control transactions. His practice also includes insurance rehabilitations and liquidations, captive insurance, business bankruptcy and restructuring, other insolvency proceedings, and business alternative dispute resolution. In 2008, he performed the duties of Deputy Insurance Commissioner for the Insurance Commissioner of Delaware. That experience adds direct regulatory perspective to his work advising insurers and other businesses on Delaware insurance and corporate matters.

GianClaudio Finizio is admitted in Delaware and before the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. He has held leadership responsibilities within Meritas, an international alliance of business law firms. His practice combines insurance regulation, insolvency, bankruptcy, M&A, and corporate counseling, allowing him to advise companies through transactions, regulatory requirements, financially distressed situations, and changes in ownership or control that require coordinated business and legal planning.
