Giacomo Jacques Behar

With more than 30 years of legal experience, Giacomo Jacques Behar is a seasoned immigration attorney licensed in California since 1993. He is a Certified Specialist in Immigration & Nationality Law by the California State Bar. Giacomo serves clients across the U.S. and globally, offering legal support in seven different languages.

Giacomo began his academic journey at the Interpreters’ School in Zurich, Switzerland, where he trained as a translator and conference interpreter. After moving to the U.S. in 1981, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1983 and an MBA in Finance in 1984 from the U.S. International University in San Diego. In 1992, he completed his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law.

Throughout his legal career, Giacomo has focused exclusively on U.S. immigration law. He has assisted individuals and businesses with matters such as family and employment-based visas, investor visas, political asylum, deportation defense, and consular processing. He is authorized to practice before the California Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

As an immigrant himself, Giacomo understands the personal and legal challenges his clients face. His multicultural background and fluency in French, Spanish, Italian, German, Turkish, Hebrew, and English allow him to work directly with a highly diverse client base. He has supported clients from over 45 different countries through each step of their immigration process.

Giacomo Jacques Behar has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 1993. He served as Chairman of the AILA San Diego chapter’s liaison committee with the Immigration Service’s California Service Center. He is also active in AILA’s Rome and Mexico chapters, frequently lecturing on immigration law across California, Mexico, Europe, Turkey, and Israel.
