About

Gerald A. Vergilis has spent more than four decades working as a trial attorney in both criminal and civil courts. His courtroom background includes appearances in State and Federal courts involving complex litigation matters. Over the years, he has focused heavily on personal injury claims and has represented injured individuals in many different types of cases.

Gerald earned a B.A. from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in 1968. He later received a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in 1971. While continuing his legal career, he completed an LL.M in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 1980, expanding his legal knowledge through advanced study.

Jerry began building his courtroom experience as a part-time deputy Public Defender for Dutchess County. During that period, he handled criminal matters ranging from misdemeanor charges to felony murder cases. That early litigation experience helped shape his approach to preparation, courtroom advocacy, and client representation in demanding legal situations.

Gerald later shifted his practice toward civil litigation with a concentration on personal injury law. Throughout the last twenty-five years, he has handled claims involving car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, premises liability, construction site accidents, wrongful death matters, and medical malpractice cases for injured clients seeking financial recovery after serious incidents.

Gerald has also represented clients in cases involving traumatic brain injuries, burn injuries, dangerous products, defective medical devices, nursing home neglect, and public transportation accidents. His extensive trial background has allowed him to prepare cases carefully while guiding injured victims through complicated legal proceedings and pursuing compensation tied to their losses.

Gerald was admitted to practice in New York in 1972 and Florida in 1978. His additional admissions include the U.S. District Court Southern District of New York, 1976, the U.S. Tax Court, 1979, and the Supreme Court of the United States of America, 1972, reflecting years of experience before multiple courts and jurisdictions.

Gerald A. Vergilis believes trial experience remains one of the most important qualities an attorney can offer an injured client. He has consistently handled litigation involving serious injuries and complex claims while helping individuals pursue compensation after difficult events. His long legal career reflects dedication to courtroom advocacy, careful case preparation, and client-focused representation.
