Georgia Cappleman is the Chief Assistant State Attorney in Florida’s Second Judicial Circuit, where she has served for more than two decades. A seasoned trial lawyer, she supervises the felony division and manages a demanding caseload that includes some of the most serious criminal offenses, such as sexual assault and homicide. Her career reflects a commitment to justice, with a focus on ensuring that victims and their families receive a strong and fair voice in court.
Ms. Cappleman earned her J.D. from Florida State University College of Law after completing her undergraduate studies at Florida State University. She also completed FSU’s Certified Public Manager program, strengthening her leadership and administrative skills. This strong academic foundation, paired with years of courtroom experience, has prepared her to guide high-stakes prosecutions while mentoring young attorneys and leading complex legal teams with professionalism and skill.
In addition to her role as a prosecutor, Ms. Cappleman contributes to the academic community as an Adjunct Professor of Juvenile Justice at Florida State University College of Law. She also coaches the school’s Mock Trial Team, helping train future generations of trial attorneys. Her teaching and mentorship reflect her dedication to sharing practical knowledge and instilling a commitment to justice in aspiring lawyers.
Beyond the courtroom, Georgia Cappleman has been deeply involved in community service. For more than ten years, she has served on the Board of Refuge House, an organization that supports survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. She has held leadership positions, including President, Vice President, and Resource Development Co-Chair. Through her legal work, teaching, and community service, she has built a reputation as both a formidable prosecutor and a compassionate advocate.
