George S. MacInnis focuses on intellectual property law at Bay State IP, LLC, with particular experience in US patent applications for domestic and international clients. His work includes patent prosecution, trademark applications, foreign trademark prosecution, and related intellectual property matters. He previously worked for a Boston intellectual property boutique, where he provided technical expertise and assisted with management of US and foreign patent and trademark prosecution matters.
Mr. MacInnis earned his J.D. from Massachusetts School of Law. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lowell. His combined legal and engineering education provides a technical foundation for patent matters involving mechanical systems, industrial technologies, and other inventions requiring detailed technical analysis.
Mr. MacInnis brings substantial engineering and industry experience to his intellectual property practice. He worked as a Design Engineer with General Electric’s Jet Engine Division on the F404 Engine Line. He later worked as a Design and Production Engineer with Mediva Pharmaceutical. His technical background helps him understand inventions, communicate with inventors, and evaluate the mechanical and engineering concepts involved in patent applications and prosecution.
George S. MacInnis combines intellectual property experience with extensive technical training and prior military service. He served in the United States Navy as a Machinist’s Mate Third Class and received training involving propulsion, ship systems, hydraulics, electronics, and valve maintenance. His background allows him to approach patent and trademark matters with practical knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, mechanical systems, and intellectual property protection for domestic and international clients.
