Gary M. Meltzer is a partner and Chair of the Real Estate Practice Group at Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP, where he leads a national commercial transactional practice. With more than three decades of experience, he represents clients in the sale, purchase, leasing, and financing of major commercial properties. His practice encompasses complex real estate transactions, including 1031 exchanges, loan assumptions, and portfolio financings. Known for his strategic insight and meticulous attention to detail, he provides comprehensive legal solutions for developers, investors, lenders, and property owners.

Gary earned his J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and his B.A. from Binghamton University. Admitted to the New York and Connecticut State Bars, he began his legal career at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and later Baer Marks & Upham LLP, where he developed a foundation in sophisticated commercial real estate and finance matters.

Throughout his career, Gary has represented owners and developers of shopping centers, multi-family housing, office complexes, golf courses, industrial sites, and residential communities. He drafts and negotiates commercial leases, organizational agreements, and intercreditor arrangements, offering clear guidance on transactions involving lenders, borrowers, and institutional investors. His work includes advising on loan sales, due diligence, and complex closing structures across multiple jurisdictions.
