Francis P. Karam is a seasoned trial lawyer with more than three decades of experience handling complex class actions, shareholder rights disputes, and securities fraud litigation. As Of Counsel to Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP, he has tried over 100 cases to verdict and argued numerous appeals in state and federal courts nationwide.
Mr. Karam earned his Juris Doctor from Tulane University School of Law after completing a Bachelor of Arts in The Classics at the College of the Holy Cross. His education laid the groundwork for his early work in admiralty and maritime law, where he represented international insurance companies in commercial arbitrations and federal litigation.
Throughout his career, Mr. Karam has served as lead or co-lead counsel in high-profile matters, including the Fannie Mae and MF Global securities litigation. He has played a central roles in cases involving investment fraud, commercial fraud, and royalty owner claims against major energy companies, achieving significant verdicts and settlements.
Mr. Karam’s record includes notable results, such as settlements of $93 million in the Cigna litigation, $120 million in the Deutsche Telecom case, and other substantial recoveries in Footstar, SeeBeyond, Quality Distribution, and BellSouth matters. His courtroom experience is reinforced by his prior service as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx Homicide Bureau.
