Ethan M. Watts

Ethan M. Watts is a seasoned attorney with over 19 years of legal experience across business law, real estate law, intellectual property, data privacy, and cyber law. He supports clients in legal areas such as technology transactions, IP licensing, business formation, commercial contracts, and outside general counsel services. His work reflects a deep commitment to helping entrepreneurs, companies, and individuals handle complex legal challenges.

Ethan holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Brigham Young University. He went on to earn both a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law and an M.B.A. from the University of San Diego School of Business Administration. While in law school, he served as Lead Articles Editor for the San Diego International Law Journal and participated in the Entrepreneurship Clinic.

Ethan launched his legal career at Mazzarella Dunwoody & Caldarelli, LLP before joining Musick, Peeler & Garrett LLP. Today, he is known for advising startups, securing and enforcing intellectual property rights, and handling complex internet and technology law issues. Ethan also counsels clients on data privacy and regulatory compliance, and holds the CIPP/US certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Throughout his career, Ethan has remained active in professional organizations, including the American Bar Association and the State Bar of California. He is a member and past chair of key sections of the San Diego County Bar Association. His certifications and board memberships, especially with IAPP, show his leadership in privacy and cybersecurity law.

Ethan M. Watts is licensed to practice in all California state courts, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California. His background in web development and prior work in technology enrich his legal practice, especially when handling internet law and digital business issues.
