Erin Melling

Erin L. Melling is a Managing Partner with Melling and Roseland Law, PC, practicing primarily from the firm’s Belle Fourche, South Dakota office. Her work reflects a broad civil practice supported by litigation experience, client-focused counsel, and regular representation of clients in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana legal matters.

Ms. Erin earned her undergraduate degree from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota, graduating with honors in 2008 with dual majors in Political Science and History. She later attended the University of South Dakota School of Law, where she completed her Juris Doctorate in 2013 before entering private practice. After law school, she joined a local North Dakota firm and became a partner in Melling and Roseland Law, PC, and its predecessor in 2015. She later helped expand the firm’s regional reach by establishing its Belle Fourche office in 2020, while continuing to serve clients across state lines in both states.

Ms. Erin’s practice includes general civil litigation, estate planning, family law, probate, real estate, oil and gas matters, business organizations, and related civil disputes. She assists individuals, families, landowners, and business clients with practical guidance that addresses immediate legal needs while supporting long-term planning, continuity, and stability. In addition to private practice, she has served as Slope County, North Dakota State’s Attorney and as Adams County, North Dakota State’s Attorney since 2015. These roles add prosecutorial experience to her background and strengthen her ability to evaluate cases and pursue appropriate legal solutions in court.
