Eric Preheim

Eric Preheim is a partner at Fuller Williamson Nelson Preheim in Sioux Falls whose practice centers on high-stakes litigation. Eric handles insurance-based disputes, high-value personal injury claims, and complex business litigation. His work involves serious matters where clients need careful case assessment, detailed legal analysis, discovery strategy, motion practice, negotiation, and trial preparation. He joined the firm in 2013 and became a partner in 2018.

Eric graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Dakota in 2006 and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 2009. He graduated law school with Sterling Honors and received the Lexis Award. He also earned top grades in Insurance, Civil Procedure, Evidence, Appellate Advocacy, Commercial Law, Contracts, and other courses relevant to a litigation practice.

After law school, Eric clerked for Chief Judge Karen Schreier of the Federal District Court of South Dakota. That federal clerkship provided experience with judicial analysis, complex records, briefing, and courtroom procedure before he entered private practice. Eric now represents clients in substantial insurance, personal injury, and business disputes, applying that background to cases that may involve significant damages, complicated factual questions, and the prospect of extended litigation or trial.

Eric Preheim combines strong academic performance, federal judicial clerkship experience, and more than a decade of private litigation work. Eric’s practice requires him to evaluate legal and factual risk, prepare cases efficiently, and present complex issues clearly for clients, opposing parties, and courts.
