Eric earned his Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from Miami University in 1990. He then completed his Juris Doctor from Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1993, followed by an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Frederic G. Levin College of Law in 1994.

Eric has been involved in significant legal matters, including serving as principal attorney in notable tax and bankruptcy litigation. One of his key cases, Tull v. U.S., 69 F.3d 394 (9th Cir. 1995), helped define the treatment of voluntary tax payments, limiting IRS authority in re-designating taxpayer payments.
