Eric M. Kearney

Eric M. Kearney leads an elder law practice in Southeast Portland, Oregon. Since 2006, his practice has focused on Elder Law issues, including Guardianship, Medicaid, Special Needs Planning, Conservatorship, Disability Planning, Long-term Care Planning, and Estate Planning & Probate. Eric works with elders, people with disabilities, and their families on legal arrangements and public-benefits issues that can affect care, decision-making, assets, and long-term planning.

Eric earned a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law and a B.A. in Physical Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His legal education supports a practice that combines court proceedings, estate and disability planning, and public-benefits rules. This background helps him explain how guardianship, conservatorship, Medicaid, probate, and special needs planning can interact when families are making decisions about care and financial protection.

Before opening his current office, Eric worked for one of Oregon’s larger elder law firms and also at a professional fiduciary firm, where he handled matters involving guardianship, conservatorship, and estate administration. His practice now draws on that experience when clients need help with protected persons, long-term care, disability planning, Medicaid eligibility, or probate. He has also presented continuing legal education programs on estate administration, public benefits, and planning for people with disabilities.
