Edward “Ted” H. Miller

Edward “Ted” H. Miller is the Managing Partner at Cooper, Spong & Davis, P.C. He represents individuals, families, and corporations in sensitive and complex matters. His practice includes estate planning, estate and trust administration, debt collection, taxation, business law, and residential and commercial real estate, plus related litigation.

Ted earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 2007 and a J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2013. He also graduated from the Duke University Financial Planning Program and the McIntire Business Institute at the University of Virginia, adding strong business training.

Ted received the True Wahoo Award while attending the University of Virginia for his community commitment. He was also included in the 2023 “Top Lawyers” list of Coastal Virginia Magazine and CoVaBiz for the fifth year in a row, based on peer nomination and voting by lawyers statewide.

Ted helps clients with wills, trusts, powers of attorney, medical directives, probate, estate administration, trust administration, guardianship, and conservatorship matters. He also advises families on asset protection, wealth transfer, business succession planning, and trusts designed to protect children facing money, addiction, or other personal challenges over time.

Ted has practiced real estate law for more than a decade. He handles residential and commercial transactions, deeds, mortgages, leases, contracts, refinancing, owner financing, foreclosure situations, farms, timber rights, brokerage agreements, property manager agreements, and real estate matters involving limited liability companies, corporations, and transfers for many clients.

Edward “Ted” H. Miller is admitted before the Supreme Court of Virginia and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Before joining Cooper, Spong & Davis, P.C., he worked with White & Case in Washington, DC, and apprenticed at an estate-planning firm based in Hampton Roads.
