Edward Lear

Edward Lear is the founder of Century Law Group, LLP, and a trial lawyer with decades of litigation experience. His practice focuses on business disputes, real estate law, wildfire litigation, personal injury, eminent domain, and professional license defense. He has tried hundreds of cases, including dozens of jury trials, and serves as an arbitrator for the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He has qualified as an expert witness in courts.

Mr. Lear earned his Bachelor’s Degree, cum laude, from Dartmouth College in 1983 and his J.D. from U.C.L.A. School of Law in 1987. At UCLA, he participated in the Moot Court Honors Program and served on the UCLA Law Review. After law school, he joined Thelen, Marrin, Johnson & Bridges as a litigation associate before becoming a State Bar prosecutor in Los Angeles, where he prosecuted attorney discipline matters for three years.

Mr. Lear later co-founded Gerry & Lear before founding Century Law Group, LLP in 2002. His litigation work includes business and real estate disputes, professional licensing matters, personal injury claims, eminent domain, and wildfire cases. He has presented MCLE programs to bar associations and legal organizations, and his courtroom background informs both trial strategy and dispute resolution. He is admitted in California state courts, the Ninth Circuit, and federal district courts.

Edward Lear is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and serves on the faculty of its Jack Daniels Trial School. He is also a founding member and former president of the Association of Discipline Defense Counsel. He served on the State Bar of California’s Ad Hoc Commission on the Discipline System and chaired its Effectiveness Subcommittee. Through his legal services, he handles civil and professional responsibility matters.
