About

Dunnington Babb is Of Counsel at Cashion Gilmore & Lindemuth in Anchorage and handles complex criminal and civil litigation. Babb began practice as a public defender in Southern California after work on federal habeas petitions, then returned to Anchorage and tried serious criminal cases for the Alaska Public Defender Agency. His courtroom background includes numerous high-profile acquittals and extensive work on cases involving the most serious criminal charges.

Babb attended Saint Mary’s College of California and the University of San Francisco School of Law. After entering practice, he developed trial experience in California and Alaska and was admitted to the Alaska bar in 2010. His early appellate and public defense work provided a foundation in constitutional issues, evidentiary disputes, motion practice, and trial preparation. That background continues to support his representation of clients facing high-stakes criminal accusations and complex civil disputes.

In 2014, Babb became deputy director of the Alaska Public Defender Agency, where he was responsible for day-to-day operations across thirteen offices and more than 150 state employees. He consulted on critical trial strategy throughout Alaska and worked with judges, legislators, the Alaska Court System, and the Alaska Mental Health Trust on justice administration and therapeutic court access. In private practice, he applies that experience to both criminal defense and civil litigation matters.

Dunnington Babb has served on the Alaska Rules of Professional Conduct Committee since 2014 and has been a member of the Alaska Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since its inception. Babb also lectures at Public Defender Agency new-lawyer trainings. His practice combines trial experience, management knowledge, and familiarity with Alaska’s justice system, helping clients address difficult cases with careful preparation, strategic judgment, and an understanding of how legal decisions can affect both immediate proceedings and longer-term outcomes.
